About This Grant
Montgomery County youth ages 18 and under (or older if still in high school) ride free on all Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) buses, including Ride On, Ride On extRa, Ride On Flex, and Flash. Starting June 29, 2025, all riders (not just youth) ride free on MCDOT buses. For Metrobus routes within the county, youth ages 5–18 must use a Youth Cruiser SmarTrip card to ride free (mandatory as of February 1, 2026). Assistance type: subsidy.
