OpenGrants MCP Server — Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 4, 2026 Effective: June 4, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Egeria Corporation (“Company,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) handles information in connection with the OpenGrants MCP Server (the “Connector”), a Model Context Protocol server that lets Claude and other compatible AI clients query public and private grant funding data from OpenGrants.
This policy is specific to the Connector. Your use of the OpenGrants website and web application is governed by the separate OpenGrants Privacy Policy and OpenGrants Terms of Service.
1. Summary
The OpenGrants MCP Server is stateless. It receives a request from your AI client (for example, a grant search query), forwards it to the OpenGrants grant data service, and returns the results. We do not store your requests, your results, or any user data on the Connector’s servers after a request is completed.
2. What the Connector Accesses
When you use the Connector, we process the following on a transient, in-memory basis only for the duration of each request:
- Tool inputs you (via your AI client) send to the Connector — for example, grant search terms, funding categories, geographic or eligibility filters, and similar query parameters needed to return relevant grant opportunities.
- Technical request metadata — such as the network connection and standard protocol information required to receive a request and return a response over HTTPS.
We only process data from your AI client’s context that is necessary for the Connector to perform its function: finding and returning grant opportunities.
3. What the Connector Does NOT Access
The Connector does not access, request, read, store, or extract:
- Your Claude memory, chat history, conversation summaries, or other conversation data.
- Your files, documents, or other user-generated content outside the specific tool inputs sent to it.
- Any data beyond what is needed to fulfill a grant-search request.
We do not log conversation content for any purpose, including diagnostics.
4. How We Use Information
Transient request data is used solely to:
- Receive your grant-search request and route it to the OpenGrants grant data service.
- Return the matching grant results to your AI client.
We do not use Connector request data for advertising, behavioral remarketing, profiling, model training, or sale to third parties.
5. Data Storage and Retention
The Connector does not persist user request data. Query inputs and results exist only in memory for the duration of a single request and are not retained on the Connector after the response is returned.
6. Third Parties
To return grant results, the Connector communicates with:
- The OpenGrants grant data service, operated by Egeria Corporation, which maintains the underlying database of federal, state, local, and private grant opportunities. Data handling by that service is governed by the OpenGrants Privacy Policy.
- Infrastructure / hosting provider(s) used to operate the Connector.
We do not share Connector request data with advertisers or data brokers.
7. Security
We use HTTPS for data in transit and apply commercially reasonable safeguards to the Connector. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children
The Connector is not directed to, and not intended for use by, individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
9. International Users
Egeria Corporation is based in the United States. Requests processed by the Connector are handled in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above and posting the revised policy at its published URL.
